Congratulations on being admitted to Jackson State University®! Complete these six pre-orientation steps to prepare for your transition — indicate your intent to enroll, submit immunization records, apply for housing, activate your NetID, access your student email, and submit your final official transcript.

Before you attend orientation at JSU, students should be sure to complete the six-step pre-orientation checklist below.
Six steps to complete before orientation
A guided checklist for admitted students. Complete each step in order to prepare for a smooth transition to Jackson State University.
Indicate Your Intent to Enroll
Confirm your commitment to attend JSU by indicating your intent to enroll through the Future Tiger portal.
Indicate Intent to Enroll →Send Immunization Records
Submit your immunization records to the health center to comply with Mississippi state requirements.
Visit Health Services →Apply for Housing (If Needed)
If you plan to live on campus, submit your housing application through JSU Housing.
Apply for Housing →Activate Your NetID
Activate your JSU NetID to gain access to all JSU digital services including PAWS, email, and student portals.

jsums.org - At the top of the webpage, click P.A.W.S.
- Click “Enter Secure Area (JSU PAWS)”

Enter your JNumber (found on admissions letter, ex:
J00000000) and PIN - Click “Activate NetID, Change NetID Password”
Your NetID password must be at least 7 characters
long and include a capital letter
and symbol. Example from JSU documentation:
Pa$$word.
Access Your Student Email
After activating your NetID, log in to your JSU student email.

Go to
jsums.org - At the top of the webpage, click “Email”
- Click “Student Login”

Type your
Jnumber@students.jsums.edufor the Login ID
Per JSU documentation, first-time login password is your
birth date in format
MMDDYYYY (example: 04012016).
Change your password immediately after first
login to a secure, unique password.
Submit Your Final “Official” Transcript
Submit your final official transcript through one of three methods:
