Reporting & finding scholarships
Scholarships received by students may cause financial aid packages to be adjusted. Students must provide the Financial Aid Office with all information relating to scholarships they may receive. This information should include the terms and conditions of the award, the amount of the scholarship(s), and the semester(s) for which the scholarship(s) will be paid.

Academic scholarship opportunities
Academic scholarship opportunities open on November 1 of each year.
- Requirement
- Incoming Freshman with a College Preparatory Curriculum GPA of 3.5 and an ACT score of 32 or above (or an SAT score of 1420 or above).
- Covers
- Full Tuition, Fees, Room and Board.
- Application Window
- November 1 – February 1
- Requirement
- Incoming Freshman with a College Preparatory Curriculum GPA of 3.25 and an ACT score of 25 or above (or an SAT score of 1130 or above).
- Covers
- Tuition Only.

- November 1 – February 1
- Requirement
- Community College Graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, a minimum of 60 transferable credit hours, and an AA degree from an accredited community college.
- Covers
- Tuition Only.

- March 15 – June 1
- Requirement
- Community College Graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, a minimum of 60 transferable hours, an AA degree from an accredited college, and verification of active membership in Phi Theta Kappa.

Scholarship resources
Financial Aid Office (FAO). Private scholarship information is available on the Private Scholarships page and on the bulletin boards located in the Financial Aid Office on the 1st Floor of B. F. Roberts Hall.

Other JSU scholarship sources
- Athletic Department: Inquiries concerning athletic scholarships should be directed to the appropriate Intercollegiate Athletic Coaches.
- Music Department: Inquiries concerning music and/or band scholarships should be directed to the Music Director.
- Major Department: Your academic department may have scholarship information related to your field of study.
- Development Office: Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit or financial need, or other specified criteria. Apply at the Development Scholarships page.
- Employers: Parents’ employers may have scholarships available for dependents of employees. JSU employees and their dependents may qualify for a Remission of Fees — view requirements on the Employee Benefits page.
- Churches, Civic & Public Service Organizations, School Counselors, Bookstores & Libraries: Churches and various civic organizations (e.g., Masons, Rotary, Lions Club, sororities, fraternities) may offer scholarships (these groups may require family affiliation). High school guidance counselors are an excellent source of scholarship information; college-financing resources may be found in libraries’ reference sections; and bookstores often carry materials on financing a college education.
