Imagine completing part of your degree in another country
The world is our classroom, and JSU Global offers study abroad opportunities that support JSU's mission to produce technologically advanced, diverse, ethical, global leaders who think critically, address societal problems and compete effectively. Studying abroad helps to meet this challenge by providing opportunities that internationalize JSU's students and faculty through exposure and experiences around the world.
Study abroad is when a student takes classes or has experiences in another country. These programs are excellent opportunities to see a new part of the world, experience a different culture, and travel. This allows you to maximize your experience and exposure to new places.

The different types of study abroad programs
Select a program type to see how it works.
Choose from hundreds of study abroad opportunities from non-JSU institutions and providers, such as the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE), CIS Abroad and SIT Study Abroad. With an independent study abroad program, you select the program that is appropriate for you and your academic, financial and cultural goals.
Faculty led study abroad is short-term, academic experiences and programs that are initiated, organized and carried out by full-time members of JSU faculty. These programs vary in length and credit hours. Students are enrolled in a class at Jackson State; part of the class is taught on campus at JSU as an in-person, hybrid or online course, as well as in another country.
A non-academic international experience where students travel abroad to volunteer or perform community service.
A non-academic international experience in another country to become more familiar with the country's culture, language, history, and more.
Students can intern in another country to gain practical experience in their field or major. The internship can count for academic and non-academic credit. These types of programs are typically offered through third party companies.
Jackson State University has a number of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with foreign universities where our students pay their tuition to JSU and take classes abroad at another university.
