JSU Cyber Security
JSU IT's Information Security Office — mitigating risk through IT policies, security training and awareness programs, security monitoring, secure architecture, and vulnerability management.
Suspect a cyber incident?
Report it immediately. Phishing emails, suspicious account activity, lost devices, suspected malware — the sooner you report, the sooner the Information Security Office can respond.
Mitigating risk for the University
The vision of JSU IT's Information Security Office is to mitigate risk for the University through the development and maintenance of JSU's Information Security strategy — which includes IT policies and best practices, security training and awareness programs, security monitoring and operations, secure architecture, and vulnerability management.

Confidentiality, Integrity & Availability
Information security balances the three foundational principles of the CIA triad — defined by JSU IT's Information Security Office:
Confidentiality
Keeping private matters private.
Integrity
Assuring that your information is complete and accurate.
Availability
Having timely and reliable access to your information.
Information security is a team effort
We alone cannot accomplish this. You play a key role in protecting information. Help us to keep JSU standing strong against cyber threats and attacks!
Be Knowledgeable
Learn about common threats — phishing, malware, social engineering, password attacks.
Be Aware
Watch for signs of suspicious activity — unexpected emails, strange links, account anomalies.
Be Proactive
Use strong passwords, enable DUO multi-factor, complete trainings, and report incidents promptly.
Four core program areas
FERPA, GLBA & CUI
JSU's Information Security Office provides resources and guidance on the three major federal data privacy and security frameworks affecting higher education.
