About the Program

From molecular structures to whole ecosystems

Students gain a diverse education in biology, learning to work from molecular structures in the lab to ecosystems in the outdoors. The Department has a cadre of highly qualified and committed faculty and staff providing "deep quality" education and training in Biology and Biology-related disciplines.

In consonance with the goals of the College of Science, Engineering & Technology (CSET) and the University, the Department is committed to a higher level of excellence in the quality, diversity, and significance of its curriculum and programs of study. The overarching goal is to prepare students for careers in basic sciences, medical and biomedical sciences, biotechnology, bioinformatics, marine and environmental sciences, public health, and other health professions.

Learn by doing. Time will be spent collecting and analyzing data or running experiments using state-of-the-art equipment — not solely sitting at desks.
